Taylor Swift welcomes Kobe Bryant to the stage during the opening night of her five concerts at Staples Center.

Although Kobe Bryant didn’t make a return to the basketball court with the Lakers, he made a grand reappearance at Staples Center on Friday night alongside Taylor Swift to assist the renowned singer in revealing her own banner.

Bryant surprised the audience as the second guest during her concert, the inaugural event of five she’s hosting at Staples Center during the 1989 World Tour.

Prior to Bryant’s appearance, Swift had already welcomed Ryan Tedder of One Republic to join her on stage, where they performed One Republic’s hit song, “Counting Stars.”

The Lakers’ legendary guard emerged onto the stage via a long catwalk during Swift’s performance of “Style.” He then requested the band to lower the volume a bit and encouraged the crowd to take notice of Swift’s banner.

According to Bryant, Swift has achieved a remarkable feat of selling out Staples Center a record 16 times, including the five shows she’s scheduled to perform there until Wednesday.

Bryant’s own basketball endeavors were hindered by injuries last season, limiting him to just 35 games before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery. However, he is anticipated to make a full recovery in time for the upcoming season.
